Welcome to the weekend, and welcome to the Saturday 7.
In our mile-a-minute lives, it is definitely a sacrifice to give the time and intentionality it takes to offer someone relationship. But is it generosity? We found our answer when we took a look at an old story we thought we already knew and were astonished by how openhandedly Jesus offered himself to us – the least likely and most sinful – so that we could experience the generosity of knowing by being known fully, just as we are.
Years ago, American pastor Matt Canlis was running. And he found that, when he was running, it was easy to stay hidden to avoid being known. But one of his professors told him, “If you want to become a pastor, go find a parish … a fishbowl where you can’t escape being known.” Find out what happened when he decided to take this advice.
Inspired by the quote from Tim Keller above, Michigan singer-songwriter Tauren Wells wrote a song to capture what he felt. We encourage you to listen and contemplate that you are fully known by the most generous being in the world and loved beyond measure.
International Friendship Day is this weekend. Who could you call, send a note to, or schedule a coffee with so they know you love them?
Saturday 7 is brought to you by our team at the National Christian Foundation (NCF). We would love to help you create your Giving Strategy™ so you can experience more joy and adventure as you pursue a life of generosity. Find an NCF location near you at ncfgiving.com/locations.
