Welcome to the weekend, and welcome to the Saturday 7.
Faithfulness is a simple word but a hard thing to pull off over the long-haul. Author Eugene Peterson called Christian discipleship “a long obedience in the same direction.” That’s hard because it goes against our culture that applauds big ideas, efficiency, and the constant pursuit of greater impact. But the ROI of faithfulness is a life that means something to those who come after us and pleases God.
So, this week, as we encourage you to respond to immediate needs of global proportions, we’re also examining quiet, steady generosity over time, identifying what God has given us to do, and devoting ourselves to it in the hope that we will one day hear God tell us, “Well done.”
We’ve curated a list of approved charities that have stepped in to provide aid and help those who are suffering. We encourage you to continue to pray for peace in this region of the world.
How do you choose what causes you’ll support or serve? Knowing where to begin is often the biggest obstacle to acting on a desire to be generous. We’ve designed this Causes & Passions exercise to help you discern what ignites your heart to give. If your giving feels scattered or unfocused, try this exercise, and prayerfully seek more clarity about what is really yours to do.
Saturday 7 is brought to you by our team at the National Christian Foundation (NCF). We would love to help you create your Giving Strategy™ so you can experience more joy and adventure as you pursue a life of generosity. Find an NCF location near you at ncfgiving.com/locations.
