Giving stock and giving back (Podcast)

by NCF staff  |  December 09, 2016  |  Type: Podcasts

In this new episode of NCF's Inside Giving podcast, you’ll hear the exciting story of Keith and Terri Davidson. As owners of a prominent apartment management company in Atlanta, Georgia, the Davidsons use their residential communities to help low-income families create a better life. Their communities offer their residents free after-school programs and snacks, summer camps, homework help, life skills for single parents, and Bible studies.

A key strategy to supporting their important charitable efforts is giving appreciated stock through NCF. Early on, their like-minded financial advisor developed a comprehensive plan that included giving appreciated stock – instead of writing checks – to their Giving Fund at NCF, which helped them take advantage of the greatest tax savings and send more to their favorite causes.

Gifting stock before the sale, which is an excellent strategy for year-end giving, helps the Davidsons give more to the causes they love. Keith explains, “If more people understood the simple process, they would get in the habit of giving stock through NCF.”
