Have you ever gone to bed hungry?
One in seven Georgians live with food insecurity, not knowing where their next meal will come from. That’s why staff members at the National Christian Foundation recently partnered with There’s Hope for the Hungry to help pack and pray over 720 boxes of food for the hungry.
Over the course of three days, more than three dozen National Christian Foundation employees traded their desk jobs for warehouse work at There’s Hope for the Hungry, a food distribution ministry in Cumming, GA. The NCF team packed boxes with canned goods and staples, and then loaded the 25 pound parcels onto 12 pallets for delivery to churches where it will be distributed to the needy families they serve in 33 different communities across North Georgia. NCF’s service days gave the nonprofit's regular volunteers a summer break.
National Christian Foundation staff member Katrina Johnson, (pictured above, third from left) was excited to lend a hand during this project because the pain of hunger hits close to home for her. Katrina says, “I have a family member who was a recipient of food from this ministry, and it really helped her survive a rough patch. Hunger affects many different people at different points in their lives, and this work is so vital.”
The National Christian Foundation was grateful to be a small part of this large-scale effort that There’s Hope for the Hungry puts into feeding people who are in need every day.
