Hugh Jacks


Hugh Jacks is the retired CEO of BellSouth Services and is currently President of Potential Enterprises and Adventure Safaris. He is a graduate of Mississippi State University and spent his entire business career with South Central Bell and AT&T.

He started BellSouth Services in 1983 with sixty people and grew it to a staff of over 13,500 people when he retired. He also served on the boards of AmSouth Bancorporation, Durr-Fillauer Medical, Acme Cleveland Corporation, and Provident Life Insurance, where he also served as interim CEO.

Hugh has been active in the community, having served on the boards of Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, Alabama Institute for the Deaf & Blind, Birmingham Museum of Art, UAB President’s Council, and the Alabama Policy Institute. However, his main interest is in Christian work. He has served on the boards of Re-Entry Ministries, Christian Sportsmen’s Fellowship International, Campus Crusade for Christ’s Jesus Film, and Italy for Christ. He currently serves on the boards of Trijicon and Westminster Theological Seminary. He has spoken at several Mayors’ and Governors’ Prayer Breakfasts across our country.

Hugh and his wife, Jan, attend Briarwood Presbyterian Church, where he is an Elder. They have one daughter and a grandson.
