A like-minded ministry you can trust

Every day, we help givers just like you send more to the causes they love. Together, we've mobilized over $18 billion for 90,000 charities at work here in our community and around the world.

The Uvalde School Response Fund

“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.”

Nahum 1:7

On May 24th, the small Texas town of Uvalde was shaken by a shooting at Robb Elementary School. Two educators and 19 children lost their lives, with others left hospitalized and a community mourning.

As believers, our response to this devastation comes from the knowledge that our only real hope lies in the gospel of Jesus working powerfully in the hearts of people. Let us pray, give, and serve so that God’s grace and compassion may be experienced in this time.

NCF Austin is working with our colleagues across Texas and ministries on the ground to provide support to victims, families, and the community as they grieve. The Uvalde School Response Fund has been opened to assist them with their work.

Here’s how you can help:

  • If you have an NCF Giving Fund: You can make a fund-to-fund transfer by logging into your Giving Fund, selecting “Transfer” from the blue bar at the top of the page. Be sure to include the Fund Name: The Uvalde School Response Fund, and include the Fund number #4224181.

The Uvalde School Response Fund is established completely free of any administrative charges. 100% of your contribution will go directly to nonprofits serving in the community.

As we read in Scripture, “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him” (Nahum 1:7). Please join us in praying for the families impacted, that they may find refuge and hope in the Lord.

In Christ,
Marshall, Allison, and Ryan

What will happen with funds being given to The Uvalde School Response Fund?

The recovery efforts in Uvalde continue to reveal opportunities to serve the community.  We know the emotional wounds left in the aftermath of this tragedy will take time to heal, and we want to be there for these families throughout their recovery.

The funeral expenses for everyone affected are being covered by a local funeral home, and the reconstruction of the school will be largely covered by federal grant dollars.  Many funds are also being given to support the recovery effort through local community leaders within the nonprofit sector and beyond.

We are working with personal friends in the community, immediate professional contacts, and local churches to determine the charitable organizations who are providing and will continue to provide the following:

  • Aid to the affected families for needs such as medical care, travel, compensation gaps for unpaid leave, or other support
  • Chaplaincy, grief counseling, and trauma recovery services for the families who lost loved ones and for the survivors left behind

There is a significant concern that these services will need to be available for a long time to come.  Our goal is to distribute funds over time to be a consistent resource as the community seeks to recover.  We would like to prioritize work done by churches and faith-based non-profits, but Uvalde is a small community, so we are not limiting our support to only those organizations.

We are monitoring the situation to see who may emerge as a long-term, faith-based partner who will address the ongoing trauma recovery needs in the community.  Our initial grants have been distributed to these organizations:
