Live As One

“…that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

John 17:21

It is a heartbreaking time. We know your hearts are breaking, ours are too. We need Jesus more than ever.

In John 17, at the last supper with His disciples, Jesus prayed for all of us. He prayed that we would remain one with Him and that we would be one with each other. He wanted the future world to know Him as the disciples knew Him. When we are unified with each other, as one, we can be most effective against anything that strives to divide us. A friend mentioned recently that we know from scriptures that we all stand level at the foot of the cross, as one. We all look up at His sacrificial gift of salvation for every one of us. Let us live the image of ‘one’ every moment of every day.

Lord, we pray for those who are sick and those still fighting an invisible virus and for those who are targeted because of the color of their skin. We pray for our neighbors, our neighborhoods, our cities, our nation, and our world, for resolve and healing, and that injustice would be no more. We pray that the body of Christ would reflect His image as one who loves deeply and sincerely, with our words and our actions. And we pray that we, as the body of Christ, can be, and will be, a catalyst of love and change.
