On Earth Day, we celebrate creation’s beauty and bounty. But if we stop there, we’ll miss the larger invitation. This worldwide holiday is also an opportunity to remember the inextricable link between people and planet – and to step into our calling to care for both.
"The God of creation … is so personal that he cares for each one of us and he notices when a single sparrow falls to the ground," Dave Bookless, director of theology at A Rocha International, says. "That is so powerful in evangelism. Creation care and evangelism fit hand in glove when we think about mission."
Watch this video to learn about the experience that led Dave to love caring for God's creation and using it to fulfill his calling to spread the gospel.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth … and it was good. Through this peaceful instrumental set, we invite you to listen and even look up lyrics to some of these songs as you reflect on the call to steward what God has made.
Because we just celebrated Easter, we know that God can bring life where there was death. He can make armies out of dry bones and create beauty from ashes. May he stir new life and new passion in you this year.
