2019 Year-End Giving Deadlines
As year-end approaches we want to make you aware of National Christian Foundation’s “Giving Deadlines” related to 2019 tax deductible contributions.
|Monday, December 9th: New Separately Managed Accounts & Proprietary Mutual Funds|
If you would like your NCF Giving Fund investments to be separately managed by your professional advisor contact us for details and complete an application by Monday, December 9th.
If you would like to gift a proprietary mutual fund held by a transfer agent the transfer should be initiated by this date.
|Thursday, December 12th: Grants to Charities|
While there is no year-end deadline for recommending grants from your Giving Fund to charities, if you would like a check to be mailed by the end of the year, please submit a grant request by this date. Grants entered by December 12th will be a priority for distribution by 12/31.
|Monday, December 16th: New Designated Funds for IRA RMDs|
Under the IRA charitable rollover legislation, IRA owners age 70½ and older may transfer up to $100,000 from an IRA directly to a qualified public charity (NCF Designated/ Single Charity Fund). The transfer is not included in taxable income and qualifies for the IRA owner’s RMD. If you would like to open a new NCF Designated Fund for this purpose, please complete and submit your application by this date.
|Friday, December 20th: Mutual Fund, Publicly Traded Securities and Online E-Check Contributions INITIATED |
We encourage you to initiate Stock/Mutual Fund transfers with your broker as early in the month as possible, as some transfers can take several days to arrive in our account.
Banks and financial institutions have up to 10 days to approve or deny online e-check transactions which could jeopardize your online gift if it is denied by your bank. We encourage you to make your online e-check donations by this date to allow for this processing time.
|Tuesday, December 31st: Mutual Fund, Publicly Traded Securities and Online E-Check Contributions RECEIVED |
Securities gifts and separately invested account transfers must arrive in NCF’s brokerage account by COB Monday December 31st to count as 2019 gifts.
|Tuesday, December 31st: Physical Checks Postmarked and Mailed and Transfer Agent Gifting Forms Postmarked |
Physical checks, cash, paper certificates, Transfer Agent Gifting forms and IRA Rollovers must have a USPS Postmark date of 12/31/19 or earlier to be counted as a 2019 gift.
