Resources on Racial Equity
Dear NCF Orlando Community,
As we continue to better understand how to respond to the critical topic of racial inequality and injustice, you may be overwhelmed and wondering “Where to start?” or “What should I read next?” To help you in your journey, our team has compiled a list of resources here in the spirit of listening and learning. We hope these links will continue to provoke thoughtfulness and change in our hearts and lives as we seek to make progress towards racial equity.
First, we have listed a number of community resources from recommendations within our network. Second, Eddy Moratin, a NCF Orlando advisory board member with whom I co-hosted two Zoom conversations with 40-50 key stakeholders entitled “Race & Redemptive Generosity,” has organized additional resources designed to stretch our thinking in the categories of people, culture, systems and place.
Michelle and I were especially impacted listening to Bryan Stevenson (passcode: begenerous), author of Just Mercy, speak recently. I am expectant, in the midst of a broken world, that the Body of Christ shall be known and remembered by how we engage in the pain of these moments in order to shape the future for generations to come. Let’s hope continued conversation will inform how Orlando will grow as a shared community of hope, opportunity and prosperity for all or our citizens.
