Spiritus Relief Stories: Miami Feeding Program Flourishes

When COVID-19 hit the world, our South Florida givers quickly moved into action to help our community.  Through The Spiritus Relief Fund, NCF South Florida was blessed to coordinate a Miami feeding program, facilitating more than 38 feeding sites in underserved neighborhoods and communities throughout South Florida. Thanks to Chris Lane and Jessica Lancaster from our NCFSF Miami office, who dedicated countless hours to ensure this program was a success!

Through the vision and generosity of Troy and Sissy Templeton, The Templeton Family Foundation, and Abe Ng, NCFSF Miami Board Member and Owner of Sushi Maki, 1500 hot meals were delivered to individuals in need through community partners, Branches (Florida City) and Big Brothers Big Sisters. That was just the start.

The program has continued to grow as the needs of the community have increased due to loss of jobs and uncertain times. The Fuller Family Foundation came alongside NCFSF to underwrite the distribution of over 10,000 meals in Overtown, West Homestead, and Little Haiti.

NCFSF was also pleased to facilitate sites underwritten through the generosity of the Miami Dolphins through NCF giver and former Miami Dolphin, John Offerdahl – meals from Offerdahl’s and Brudzinki’s were distributed at 18 more community sites, feeding first responders and individuals from over 10 churches.
