20+ Charities on the frontlines of the COVID-19 battle

Every day, all over the world, the charities you love are working to bring hope, feed hungry people, educate children, care for God’s creation, bring justice for the oppressed, share the gospel, rescue those in danger, and shelter the homeless … make people’s lives better.

This is why you love them.

And now, as we are all enduring the global COVID-19 pandemic, millions of lives around the world are being touched by the work of these amazing nonprofits. But their work doesn’t come without a cost. Funding is always an issue. And if funding isn’t consistent, it doesn’t just hurt the nonprofit; it can have both immediate and eventual, devastating consequences for the people they serve.

Some of us are seeing loved ones suffer. Most of us are facing varying degrees of economic hardship or loss. Some of us are leaving our offices and working from home, or even “sheltering in place.” Life has slowed down as we wait out the storm.

But that’s not the case for charities of all kinds. They continue to respond to needs, fill gaps, and innovate on the fly to find new solutions to unprecedented problems. They continue their important work despite the cancellation of their fundraising events, despite the loss of donors whose own financial situations have changed, despite there just being less to work with.

While we practice social distancing, these charities continue drawing close to those in need. The brave men and women whose work is to supply clean water, strengthen health systems, triage and treat patients, and provide critical supplies are still working, tirelessly, some forsaking family time and even risking their lives.

CNN reports that “Covid-19 is poised to become an extinction-level event for America’s nonprofits.”

But we don’t believe that has to happen. We know we can help them.

Below is a list of U.S.-based charities that are working on the frontlines of this pandemic, and they’re all approved to receive NCF grants right away. If you already have a Giving Fund at NCF, log in today to recommend a grant. If you don’t have a Giving Fund, you can open one in just minutes.
