ThanksforGiving!
7 causes you’ve impacted in 2018

Today is a day for remembering God’s goodness to us and through us. We are full of gratitude to him for not only equipping us to give but also for connecting us to charities that are making a tangible impact on the world.

But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.

(King David, 1 Chronicles 29:14, NIV)

If you’ve followed along with us this week on FacebookTwitter, and LinkedIn, you’ve seen the wonderful results among just seven of the causes that you’ve supported with your Giving Fund at NCF so far in 2018.

Here are highlights from the week:

Slavery and human trafficking

Six girls were rescued just weeks ago from this brothel in Mumbai. They are some of the 9,540 victims freed by just three of the many organizations you support with your Giving Fund at NCF. In 2018 alone, you and the community of NCF givers have mobilized more than $5.5 million to 135 charities fighting against slavery and human trafficking. These organizations are on the ground working with law enforcement, in government working on solutions, and in the aftermath providing refuge and restoration … and they are empowered by your gifts.

Education

So far in 2018, you have sent $54 million to Pre-K through secondary schools. Your investment will help fulfill the calling God has on each of these students’ lives.

They will become CEOs who impact global industries, pastors who provide spiritual leadership, doctors who save lives, and mothers and fathers who raise our future leaders. And they will influence the generations to come – just as you have influenced them.

Humanitarian aid and disaster relief

In 2018, we’ve seen natural disasters spread rapidly and unexpectedly: Hurricanes Florence and Michael in the South, deadly wildfires throughout California, and earthquakes and tsunamis in Indonesia and the Philippines. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of our neighbors affected by these natural disasters.

But thanks to God, whenever tragedy hit, your gifts of aid and prayer poured in. Thank you for mobilizing more than $22 million dollars for organizations bringing hope with humanitarian aid and disaster relief.

Missions

You have recommended grants of more than $46 million this year, to missions organizations that are bringing the name of Jesus to the ends of the earth.

“How are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” (Romans 10:15).

Adoption, orphans, & foster care

In 2018, together, you and other NCF givers have equipped 385 organizations helping with adoption, orphans, and foster care … with grants of more than $14 million. You’ve helped countless children find more than a home – you’ve helped them find a family. We’re so thankful for NCF givers, like the precious family here, who are passionate about this cause.

Over the last 10 years, the number of children in adoption and foster care has steadily increased in the US. Thankfully, so have your efforts. Christians who have been called to commit their families to this cause have received national recognition.

Bible translation

Can you imagine not having the Bible in your own language? Then, reading or hearing it in your native tongue for the first time? This Yao man from Malawi gives you a glimpse. He beams with joy as he hears and understands each word from an audio Bible given to him by one of the organizations making strides in Bible translation.

In 2018, NCF givers like you have recommended $13 million to organizations purposefully working to translate and distribute Scripture in all languages. Each contribution you make brings us closer to the goal of having a portion of the Bible in every one of the world’s languages by 2025.

Praise God “from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9).

Homelessness

Approximately 554,000 people in the US are homeless at this moment, sleeping without a bed, going without a meal, and lacking simple necessities like a winter coat. The Bible says that what we do for the helpless people that Jesus called “the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,” we do for him (Matthew 25:40, NIV).

We are called to do something, and so far this year, NCF givers have recommended 4,307 grants totaling more than $14 million to organizations helping the homeless with food, shelter, and hope.

Praise God that he is using your generosity to make such a difference in 2018!

From our NCF family to yours, thank you for giving, and have a wonderful holiday today.
