Three Forms of Capital <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Christian Foundation (NCF) serves thousands of families who want their children and grandchildren to be wise stewards of the \u201ccapital\u201d they inherit.\u00a0At NCF hosted events, the topic of generational wealth transfer is always a standing room only opportunity for us to share our views on \u201cThree Forms of Capital.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we hear the word \u201ccapital\u201d we understandably think of money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surely,\u00a0\u201cFinancial\u00a0Capital\u201d\u00a0is one enormously\u00a0important element\u00a0of the wealth transfer which is very much in play right now.\u00a0What we know, however, is that\u00a0there are at least two more important types of \u201cCapital.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development of \u201cSpiritual Capital\u201d and \u201cCharacter Capital\u201d in our heirs BEFORE they receive \u201cFinancial Capital\u201d radically improves the odds that they will become good stewards of the money they receive…and the life they have been given.\u00a0An inheritance of Financial Capital is like dynamite.\u00a0If one knows what to do with it,\u00a0the blessings can be enormous.\u00a0If one is not prepared to deal with it, the results can be disastrous.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further thought and planning can be given to the development of spiritual and character capital  thereby training up our children and grandchildren to be wise stewards in the use and management of Financial Capital in the years ahead. Would you like to hear more about how training in these two areas of family development can help achieve goals you might value for your family? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spiritual Capital is, of course, about our relationship with Jesus and our knowledge of His Word.\u00a0Within this, however,\u00a0is\u00a0massive authority on being a responsible steward of Financial Capital.\u00a0And, within that, is the incredible importance of training up our\u00a0families\u00a0to know that God owns everything and we are stewards of what is His.\u00a0This\u00a0\u201cwho is the owner\u201d\u00a0mindset tops the list of strategic importance for fundraising.\u00a0Owner mindsets give less.\u00a0Steward mindsets give more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Character Capital can be defined in one way by capturing Biblical authority on the character of God.\u00a0We are made in His image, and there is\u00a0wonderful\u00a0opportunity to\u00a0train up\u00a0our children and grandchildren to become more like Him.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While readers of these reflections will instantly think of other Bible passages which reveal the nature of God ( like 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and Exodus 34:6-7), just ponder the Character Capital learning opportunities around Isaiah 11:2 and Galatians 5:22: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reverential Fear of the Lord  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Amplified Bible)    <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Fruit of the Spirit\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Love\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joy <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peace <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patience <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kindness <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goodness <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gentleness <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faithfulness <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Self-Control <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What if we had\u00a0generosity\u00a0lessons\u00a0for attributes of God which are available to\u00a0families\u00a0as\u00a0their\u00a0characters are shaped?\u00a0What if we\u00a0had\u00a0little talking points to be discussed around the dinner table or other settings?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Increasing a harvest of Financial Capital can be greatly assisted if nonprofits expand their fundraising focus to offer what they are best equipped to offer; training up children to \u201cown\u201d the Spiritual Capital and Character Capital which will determine if the Financial Capital \u201cdynamite they are given is used well.      <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
