As spring begins to emerge around us, there is a sense of renewal in the air, longer days, warmer sunshine, and the quiet reminder that new life is coming. In many ways, this season mirrors the journey we enter during Holy Week, when we pause to remember the sacrifice of Christ and the hope that flows from His resurrection. While the beauty of spring may come and go, the faith that anchors us in every season remains constant. As we reflect on Jesus’ words that even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains, may this Holy Week invite us to consider who God is shaping us to become and how our lives, including our generosity, can reflect His transforming grace.

I sense I may be coming down with the “spring flu.” My body is not aching but instead I feel like I could run a marathon. I do not feel weak from a fever but instead I feel energized from the warmth of the sun. I am not longing to be in my bed covered up with a warm comforter but instead I long to be outside basking in the beauty of the day. The point is, at least for today, spring has sprung. We have sprung forward and it makes me want to call in sick to work. My hunch is you, too, may be feeling similar symptoms.

You see, spring will come and go, flowers will die and wither, cool and sunny will be replaced with hot and humid, but our faith must remain. It is our faith that will carry us through all seasons of our lives, both joyful and difficult. It is our faith that revives us when we feel weak. It is our faith that propels us to dare to dream. It is our faith that assures us that every day is a day that He has made and we must rejoice and be glad in it.  

Dallas Willard once said: “The most important thing in your life is not what you do; it’s who you become.”

Friends, as you look out your window today and admire the beautiful spring day, take a moment to reflect on how your faith in Jesus Christ is both compelling and propelling you to become the person He has created you to be.
