NCF Michigan

A local community of faithful Christian givers

Our team has the privilege of walking alongside givers, helping them discern God's story for their generosity as they navigate the complicated landscape of giving. For 40+ years, givers at NCF have mobilized more than $25 billion for 90,000+ charities in their local communities and around the world.

Women’s workshop: 5 ways we relate to God and money

The NCF Michigan team was recently honored to host a group of ladies in Grand Rapids for a workshop led by Christian Financial Counselor Courtney Markley. The topic, “5 ways we relate to God and money,” encouraged guests to consider their primary view of God and how that shapes their attitude toward saving, spending, and giving. Courtney reminded us that seeing God as our loving Father helps us view ourselves and our resources rightly.

We understand that women have been entrusted with a specific calling from God to influence their communities for His glory through the resources He’s placed in their hands. This women’s gathering was designed to help guests grow in confidence and clarity around generosity for Kingdom purposes. Attendees enjoyed brunch, small group discussion, and a hands-on workshop led by author, speaker, and counselor Courtney.

Thank you to all the women who came ready to share and dive into this important discussion! To learn more about this topic or request resources, reach out to michigan@ncfgiving.com.

About the speaker

Courtney Markley is a Certified Christian Financial Counselor who loves to draw people closer to Jesus through money conversations. She’s the founder of the Center for Financial Discipleship (financialdiscipleship.center), the host of the Heart of Money podcast, and the author of The Good Investor’s Guide to Spiritual Health and Money. When she’s not 1-1 counseling, she is training advisors, pastors, and stewardship leaders how to have deep, Christ-centered money conversations that lead to heart change and generosity. The desire of her heart is to see more Christians fall more deeply in love with Jesus and follow Him with everything they have. Courtney is married to her husband Adam of 15 years and is mom to two wildly adorable kiddos, ages 5 and 7, plus a pup named Franklin. A Midwest native, she was born in Indiana, attended college in Illinois, and now calls Colombus, OH home. She began her career as a fashion designer, a season God used to transform her heart and illuminate the deep connection between our spiritual health and how we view money.
