Charities: How we equip charity leaders

Nonprofit leaders, thank you for being on the frontlines to serve, encourage, and build up our community! We offer a variety of resources to serve you as you serve others.

NCF Michigan is honored to facilitate grants to over 5,000 charities on behalf of the givers we serve. Every grant from NCF is donor-recommended, and givers may recommend a new charity at any time. On average, NCF Michigan distributes over 22,000 grants annually (that’s about 60 grants every single day) from our givers’ Giving Funds.

NCF is often confused with a private foundation that selects charities to receive grants based on the merit of an application. At NCF Michigan, grants are recommended by an individual giver from their personal donor-advised fund. We are not able to offer funding for nonprofits apart from a giver-recommended grant, but are happy to connect you with a variety of tools and partners to assist in your good work.

One of the most effective ways that NCF comes alongside nonprofits is through education on non-cash giving. Donations of appreciated securities, real estate, or business interests are extremely effective for both you and your givers. In addition to webinars twice a year and a variety of whitepapers online, NCF also hosts Asset Giving University to train charity leaders on this opportunity.

NCF also offers charitable gift annuity (CGA) services and helps facilitate legacy and planned giving initiatives. Furthermore, nonprofits may open single-charity funds at NCF that can accept non-cash donations like publicly traded stocks. This is an effective way for your ministry to accept donations of illiquid assets.
