Generosity conversations for C12 leaders

When leaders gather to dream about generosity, big things can happen! We were delighted to host members of C12 West Michigan and Northern Indiana for a special generosity conversation dinner in December. Hosted by our friends at Generous Givingopens in a new tab, a “generosity conversation” is a gathering of people that serves to introduce the topic of generosity and share inspiration from real giver stories.

Generous Giving exists to spread the message of biblical generosity in order to grow generous givers, especially among those entrusted with much. Founded in 2000 by The Maclellan Foundation, it was launched with a vision to stir a renewed, spirit-led commitment to generosity among followers of Christ through conversation.

The mission of Generous Giving aligns closely with our purpose at NCF: to mobilize resources by inspiring biblical generosity. It also intersects with the goals of C12 Business Forumsopens in a new tab, a longtime partner of NCF. For three decades, C12’s singular focus has been to create a framework that compels and equips Christian business leaders to achieve excellence through the power of peers. They are the nation’s largest network of Christian CEOs, business owners, and executives. That’s why we were so excited to be able to extend the invitation to this conversation around biblical generosity, which aligns with their mission to “build great businesses for greater purpose.”

At our dinner, guest speaker Lacie Stevens shared two thought-provoking giver stories that illustrated the transformation of a generous life. Guests were invited to consider: Are we owners of our resources, or God’s stewards? What generosity are we modeling for our loved ones? How could we think about setting a financial finish line?
