Advanced Charitable Planning Seminars

Don’t miss out on these upcoming seminars!

Advanced Charitable Planning Tools – June 25 from 4:30-6:00pm

Using a case study approach, attendees will learn to identify opportunities to counsel clients on how to achieve their unique philanthropic goals through the tax-leveraged use of various tax-exempt, charitable grant-making entities.  Specifically, attendees will learn the comparative differences for when and how to use supporting organizations, private foundations and donor advised funds to accomplish their clients’ charitable grant-making goals.  Attendees will also increase their knowledge and awareness of the myriad of technical issues to navigate when advising clients on how to successfully create and administer their tax-exempt grant-making entities, including but not limited to:

  • Tax-exempt status requirements
  • Income tax deduction rules
  • Unrelated business taxable income
  • Self-dealing concerns
  • Assignment of income issues
  • Excess benefit transactions
  • Investment requirements and more

The 1 hour presentation includes Case Study Application.
CLE and CFP Credit available.

The Generous Business – June 26th from 7:00-8:30am

Non-liquid assets, including private closely-held businesses, are often overlooked as a source of charitable giving.  This seminar will examine the technical considerations, the tax and legal aspects, as well as the opportunities that arise when business interests and other non-liquid assets are used to fund charitable gifts.

Attendees will learn:

  • How to capture multiple tax savings when gifting business interests to charity including S-Corps, C-Corps, LLCs and partnerships.
  • Strategies for maximizing charitable giving as part of a larger business succession plan, while minimizing transaction challenges such as UBTI, excess business holdings, and controlling vs. non-controlling interests.
  • The difference between using a Private Foundation and Donor-Advised Fund for (family or corporate) grantmaking and philanthropy.
  • How gifting income-generating assets or business interests can be used to fund charitable endeavors optimizing charitable goals, business goals, and transition planning even long before a sale is contemplated.

The 1 hour presentation includes Case Study Application and will be followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.
CLE and CFP Credit available.
