David Johnson

President

As President, David leads the NCF Michigan team in executing our mission to mobilize resources by inspiring Biblical generosity. He works with families, individuals, and financial advisors to create a well-planned, intentional strategy for their giving so they can inspire their families, maximize resources, and leave a lasting legacy. David also helps ministries and churches serve their givers by providing innovative and tax-smart giving solutions.

David Johnson is an accomplished executive with extensive experience leading global, high-impact teams with a focus on corporate finance and administration. Before joining NCF in 2023, he served as M&A, Investor Relations, and Business CFO for The Dow Chemical Company and as the Global Treasurer and Vice President of Finance for Owens-Illinois, Inc.

After over 25 years of experience in financial management and client relations in the corporate world, David was called by God to direct his expertise to ministry and became the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (aka Executive Pastor) for Westgate Chapel, a prominent church in Toledo, Ohio, where he directed operations from 2019-2023.

David earned his MBA in Finance and Strategy from the University of Michigan (Stephen M. Ross School of Business). He is a committed learner, engaging in Executive Education from Stanford Graduate School of Business and earning an MA in Global Leadership from Crown College. He is a certified Maxwell Leadership trainer, coach and speaker, and an SDI Certified Facilitator.

In addition to church ministry and discipleship, he and his wife, Renee, share a passion for early childhood development ministries. Together they founded and directed Kids 1st Fun House, a school-age child care program in Midland, Michigan. They are proud parents to four adult children and are expecting their first grandchild.
