Spiritual Practices for a Generous Life

As you continue on your journey of Biblical Generosity, you can utilize the resources below to explore many of the various aspects of spiritual discipleship.

Practicing the Way

Practicing the Way is a pathway to becoming like Jesus in community. The Practices are designed to be done over four weeks in a small group or larger community. The weekly gathering for teaching and conversation is one hour long. Practicing the Way has curated modern and ancient formation voices as they offer recommended reading, a companion podcast series for each Practice, and weekly Reach Exercises for those that want to dig deeper. The first two practices, Prayer and Sabbath, are available now.

Practicing the Way: The Rule of Life Podcast

The Rule of Life podcast is designed to guide you in arranging your everyday life around being with and becoming like Jesus. Each season will cover one of nine ancient Practices from the Way of Jesus: Sabbath, Prayer, Fasting, Solitude, Scripture, Community, Simplicity, Generosity, and Hospitality. Begin listening to the first season—Prayer—at the links below.

John Mark Comer’s Rule of Life Workbook

A rule of life is a schedule and set of practices and relational rhythms that help us create space in our busy world for us to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what he did—to live “to the full” (John 10:10) in his kingdom, and in alignment with our deepest passions and priorities. The Rule of Life workbook contains practices and thought-provoking exercises to help you ignite your spiritual discipleship.

Praxis: A Rule of Life for Redemptive Entrepreneurs

The Praxis Rule of Life is a rule of life for entrepreneurs and others called to enterprising leadership. Our most significant identity is not as entrepreneurs or leaders. We are citizens in God’s kingdom and members of God’s household, and we are members of earthly families and households, part of neighborhoods, communities, and nations. The way of faithfulness for us is not fundamentally different than it is for any person: seeking to love God and our neighbor with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, by repenting and believing the good news.

Giving Strategy

Giving is more than a financial transaction. It’s a spiritual practice that can transform every major aspect of your life. At NCF, we help you create a Giving Strategy that applies a spiritual perspective to the four areas of generosity – Passions, Family, Legacy, and Wealth & Resources. The result is an actionable summary that clarifies your purpose for giving, identifies opportunities, and reveals where you would like to grow.

The Generosity Library

The National Christian Foundation’s Generosity Library is a curated collection of books, articles, videos, studies, podcasts, and experiences to encourage your journey in biblical generosity. Featuring inspiring stories and no shortage of thought-provoking content, it is a perfect place to visit when you are seeking inspiration in your discipleship journey.

The Generous City Initiative

Generosity Dallas and Generosity Forth Worth are collaborations to help grow biblical generosity in the Fort Worth area. We believe every Christ follower is a steward of the resources God has entrusted to them. Christ-centered generosity is more than philanthropy. It starts with seeking God which leads to helping people in need, building God’s Kingdom, and bringing joy to the giver.
