Favorite Thanksgiving verses from our editorial team

In preparing this week’s edition of NCF’s Saturday 7 email digest, we realized that everyone on our editorial team felt strongly about a particular Bible verse. We thought knowing the reasons they carry these verses in their hearts would help you to love one of these or find one of your own favorites.

Happy Thanksgiving from the team that builds the Saturday 7. We are grateful for all of you!

“Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.”– Psalm 107:22

Rob Stetson, NCF’s event manager, who is quite musical himself, loves how the Lord invites us to praise him through songs and instruments and how singing also ministers to our souls, even in challenging times.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”– Psalm 118:1

Connie Hougland, NCF’s vice president of charity experience, finds comfort in this verse because it speaks peace to her broken heart as she grieves her husband’s death. It gives her permission, while holding that grief, to choose to be thankful that God is good.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”– Philippians 4:6

Lexie Houston, our marketing associate, finds this truth has given her stronger faith to celebrate what God will do before he has even answered her prayers or before she has received a blessing from him.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” – Colossians 3:15

Mary Beth Googasian, NCF’S vice president of PR and corporate communications, loves Colossians 3:15 because of how it shows thankfulness and peace are linked. When we are thankful, we find peace and contentment.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”– 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Rosy Harvey, a marketing manager at NCF, made this one of her life verses and began meditating on it during a challenging season many years ago. The combination of rejoicing, prayer, and giving thanks reminds her to dwell on God’s goodness and provision.
