Last year, American Bible Society released the second chapter of its 12th annual State of the Bible report, which highlights cultural trends in the U.S. regarding spirituality and engagement with Scripture. The newest research notes that, even though engagement is down, people are reporting high levels of curiosity about the Bible.
The data also indicate that American mothers (women with children at home) are collectively at the lowest levels of Scripture engagement in three years, though they play a vital role in the faith development of their children.
American Bible Society is calling on church leaders and faith communities to explore how they can help parents rebuild spiritual habits – like Bible reading – in their homes.
