Brian Davis
This year marks my 30th year as a financial advisor, my 20th year as a CFP certificate holder, and
9th year as a member of Kingdom Advisors. I first became familiar with NCF about 6 years ago as
I began having clients make more strategic giving plans, and I used NCF Donor Advised Funds to
accomplish that goal. Simultaneously, I had been on my own path of discovery and growth in
the generosity space, as I readily agreed with Ron Blue’s axiom that “God owns it all”, and I just
needed to begin figuring out what that meant for my life and my family’s life.
I understood that my business was on a path that would likely provide me with resources
beyond what I would “need” in future years, and the concepts of “how much is enough” and
drawing a “financial finish line” were ideas I knew I should begin exploring more. My wife and I
had long been tithers and “over and above” givers, but I felt drawn to understand generosity
more.
Over the past few years I have crystalized my life’s mission is “to steward the time, talent,
treasure, tribe, and truth, entrusted to me by Jesus Christ, for his purposes, one day at a time.”
My wife and I opened our own DAF last year, I have become a trained JOG facilitator, as we have
become more a part of the Generous Giving movement.
The opportunity to join the NCF Texas Board is not something I ever anticipated, but I am
excited about the chance to serve in this way. My wife and I moved to Waco in 1999, and joined
Fellowship Bible church in October of 2000. Erin and I joined Fellowship as a young married
couple, and we have now raised and launched all three of our children from this church family.
We have led and been involved in LIFE groups for many years, spent significant time serving in
youth ministry, we have both been in numerous discipleship relationships within the church,
and I have served on the elder board since 2014. It is not an exaggeration to say that we do not
know where we would be in our spiritual walk apart from the staff and members of this church,
but we would be much less mature than we are now.
I still marvel on a regular basis that God chose to save me and put me in a leadership role within
His church. I did not grow up in a Christian home, and I attended church once in my life prior to
coming to Baylor University as a freshman. But once I was exposed to the gospel, to His word,
and to friends that could answer questions and walk me through scripture, I eventually placed
my faith and trust in Christ. I deeply value the verse-by-verse teaching that we practice at
Fellowship, and I benefit from the life-to-life relationships that we have enjoyed over the years.
I have also grown much and been sharpened through the various teaching and communicating
opportunities I have been given through time.
I love spending time out in creation – whether it is working on our land or hiking the back
country at Big Bend National Park. I’m an avid Baylor fan and also enjoy exercise – havingcompleted sprint triathlons, a half marathon, and shorter races as well. My wife and I are
recent grandparents, opening a whole new chapter of blessings and experiences.
I value trying to number my days aright (Psalm 90:12), and working whole heartedly to lay up
treasure as a firm foundation for the coming age, in order to take hold of life that is truly life (1
Timothy 6:19). We serve an amazing, all-powerful God who works all things for the good of
those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
