Crisis relief

Safely giving help in the wake of hurricane in the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida

After Hurricane Florence, our givers granted more than $850,000 to support storm victims. And gifts are still being granted. But before the Carolinas had fully recovered from Florence, Michael made landfall, devastating parts of the Florida panhandle and South Georgia.

A federal state of emergency has been declared for Florida and Georgia in the wake of the disaster. And though South Carolina was not hard hit by Michael, North Carolina has declared a state of emergency in 66 counties as power outages and rising waters threaten more destruction.

We continue to see that, in the wake of a natural disaster, there is a risk of fraud by people or groups taking advantage of the good intentions of givers who want to help. Our research team at NCF has compiled a list of trusted, on-the-ground charities that are actively mobilizing volunteers, supplies, and critical support for victims of the storms. All of the charities below are “public charities” with 501(c)(3) status and who align with NCF’s beliefs and values.

Thank you to everyone who is reaching out in this critical time with prayers and gifts to help those in great need!
